Parent Led ABA

Practical Support for the Daily Challenges Affecting Your Family Right Now

Parent-Led ABA at Burgos Behavior is designed for families of autistic and neurodivergent children who are facing a specific daily challenge and want practical support they can use in real life. Maybe mornings take too long and everyone ends up overwhelmed. Maybe leaving the house feels impossible. Maybe your child is missing out on birthday parties, errands, restaurants, or other everyday experiences. Maybe what works at school is not working at home.

We help you understand what is happening, create a clear plan, and teach you strategies you can use during the routines and moments that matter most.

This is not endless therapy. The goal is to get in, fix the problem, and help you feel confident moving forward.

Is Parent-Led ABA Right for Your Family?

Parent-Led ABA may be a good fit if your family has one specific challenge that is making daily life harder than it needs to be.

This may include:

  • Difficult mornings or getting out the door

  • Meltdowns during errands, outings, or transitions

  • Trouble with mealtimes, bedtime, or daily routines

  • Difficulty participating in birthday parties, restaurants, or community activities

  • Strategies that work at school but do not seem to work at home

  • Mild to moderate behaviors connected to communication, transitions, waiting, flexibility, or routine changes

This approach works best when parents and caregivers are ready to be active participants. We do not take over. We coach you, guide you, and help you build practical skills you can use with your child in everyday life.

What Parent-Led ABA Looks Like

Parent-Led ABA is different from a traditional model where a provider works one-on-one with your child for long hours.

Instead, we focus on coaching you through the moments that are already happening in your family’s life.

We look at what is making the routine difficult, what your child may be communicating through their behavior, and what changes can make the situation more successful.

Then we create a practical plan that fits your child, your home, and your real schedule.

The strategies may be simple, but they are specific. A visual routine, a clearer transition, a change in the environment, a practice plan before an outing, or a new way to respond in the moment can make a big difference when it is matched to the right problem.

What We Do Not Provide

Parent-Led ABA may not be the right fit for every situation.

We do not provide:

  • Full-day behavior support

  • Long-term intensive 1:1 therapy

  • RBT-style direct therapy where a provider works independently with your child

  • School-based intervention

  • Crisis intervention

  • Support for frequent or severe aggression, self-injury, or elopement

If your family needs a different level of care, we will be honest about that and help you understand what type of support may be more appropriate.

What We Help With

We help families work through specific routines and situations, such as:

  • Morning routines

  • Getting dressed and leaving the house

  • Transitions between activities

  • Waiting

  • Community outings

  • Birthday parties and social events

  • Errands and restaurants

  • Mealtimes

  • Bedtime routines

  • Home routines that feel stressful or unpredictable

Our focus is on practical strategies that help your family experience more peace, predictability, inclusion, and confidence.

Our Process

1.We Start With the Problem in Front of You

We begin by learning about the specific challenge that is affecting your family right now. We want to understand what is happening, when it happens, and what daily life feels like for you.

2. We Identify What Is Driving It

Behavior is communication. We look at what your child may need, what is making the moment difficult, and what changes could make the routine easier to navigate.

3. We Build a Practical Plan

We create clear strategies that fit your real life. The plan is designed for your home, your child, and the moments you are trying to improve.

4. You Practice With Support

We coach you as you use the strategies. You will not be left guessing what to do. We help you adjust, troubleshoot, and build confidence.

5. We Work Toward Graduation

The goal is not to stay in services forever. When you have the tools to handle the challenge and feel more confident with what comes next, that is success.

Why Families Choose Burgos Behavior

Families choose Burgos Behavior because they want support that feels practical, respectful, and specific to their lives.

We understand that you are not looking for a generic plan. You are looking for someone who can help you solve the challenge that is making daily life hard right now.

Our approach is neurodivergent-affirming, parent-led, and focused on real routines. We do not work from the idea that your child needs to be fixed. We help your family understand what is happening, support your child’s needs, and build strategies that make everyday life feel more manageable.

We believe parents are not passive observers. You are the most important part of the process.
