Burgos Behavior Absence Coverage Policy
Why We Plan for Coverage
At Burgos Behavior, we know life happens and reflect that in our client attendance policy. Clinicians also need unplanned time away for illness, emergencies, or family needs. Instead of leaving clients waiting, we build coverage into our work processes. This helps make sure services continue with as little disruption as possible.
Our approach is different. Many fields accept missed sessions as normal. At Burgos Behavior, we plan ahead so your hours and supports are completed each month.
Why Cross-Coverage Matters
Continuity of Care: Your support does not stop when one person is out.
Shared Knowledge: Our team uses secure systems, so cases are updated and care is seamless.
Our phone system allows each team member access to each phone line. We can access each other’s voicemails, calls, and text messages. You don’t need to worry if you text the wrong number during an absence; we will be able to monitor each text inbox. Remember, SMS texts are not HIPAA compliant. Please never send protected health information by text message.
Our clinical data system, Motivity, is built for team collaboration.
Our scheduling system allows each team member to quickly view and edit schedules. We can seamlessly change the team member who is on an appointment.
Team-Based Support: You benefit from a team approach, not just one clinician.
Clinically Beneficial: Having more than one clinician familiar with your case strengthens your care. It allows for more perspectives, consistency across team members, and reduces the risk of service gaps.
How Coverage Works
If your clinician is absent, another Burgos clinician steps in.
We use clear, compliant hand-off systems to ensure seamless care.
You’ll be contacted by text first, then by phone if needed.
You’ll be offered at least two options for rescheduling.
Sessions may be adjusted by modality (in-person or virtual) if that helps keep your services on track.
Groups
For group sessions, we prioritize having two Burgos clinicians present. If that’s not possible, we may cancel the group session to preserve quality.
What This Means for You
Your recommended service hours are still met, even if rescheduled.
You are supported by a team that values consistency and planning.
Absence coverage planning is not optional. It’s part of how we ensure quality care.
Working with more than one clinician is often a benefit, not a drawback.
Questions?
For questions about this policy, reach out to your primary clinician. During longer absences, their email auto-response will share who to contact while they are away.
